"Using the Daughters of the American Revolution Website for Genealogical Research"

Meet the Speaker

Linda King is a long-time member and former president of WGS. She is member of the Martha Loving Ferrell chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

About the Program

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) maintains one of the most valuable online resources for researching individuals and families connected to the American Revolution. While often associated with lineage applications, the DAR website is also an important tool for genealogists at all levels.

This program will introduce attendees to the DAR website and its Genealogical Research System (GRS), with a focus on how these resources can support broader genealogical research.

Topics include:

  • Overview of records and databases available through the DAR

  • How to search for Revolutionary War service and lineage information

  • Using DAR data to support and document family history research

  • Understanding limitations, clues, and next steps when using DAR records

This session is suitable for beginners as well as experienced researchers and is valuable whether or not you plan to pursue DAR membership.
